Atomic Number

    An Atomic Number (Proton Number) is the number of protons found in the nucleus of an atom and therefore identical to the charge number of the nucleus. The atomic number uniquely identifies an Element.
    In an Atom of neutral charge, the Atomic Number is equal to the number of electrons.

    All Molecules are made of Atoms. The Molecular Formula is a series of Atomic Symbols and numbers that indicate which atoms, and how many of them, are in a molecule.

Atomic Letters & Numbers

    The letters are the symbol of an element, and indicate which atom(s) are in the molecule. The numbers are shown in subscript, and represent how many of that atom are in the molecule.
