  In our body the Cardiovascular Organ System is a major organ system within the circulatory system, with the heart and its coronary circulation as the central organ, that includes two closed loop vascular subsystems; the systemic circulation and the pulmonary circulation, with each having an arterial blood system and venous blood system.

  In our body the Cardiovascular System functions to transports food, oxygen, and water to every system of the body through it's main components, the heart, the blood, and an intricate network of blood vessels.

  In our body's vascular system, the arteries of the arterial blood system carry blood away from the heart and our veins of the venous blood system) return the blood to the heart.
  In our body, the arteries carry blood away from the heart. Oxygenated blood is pumped out of the heart through the body's main artery the aorta. Arteries that branch off the aorta transport blood throughout the body, supplying tissues with oxygen and nutrients.

In our body, the Veins carry blood back toward the heart. Tiny vessels called capillaries in organs and tissues of the body deliver deoxygenated blood into small veins called venules, which join to form veins.

Blood flows through the veins to the body's two main veins (called the vena cavae), which deliver the blood back into the heart. **

  In our body, the Pulmonary Circulation in the cardiovascular system, which carries Oxygen-depleted Blood away from the heart, to the Lungs, and returns oxygenated (oxygen rich) blood back to the heart.

Pulmonary Circuit

  In our body, the pulmonary circulation transports oxygen-poor blood from the right ventricle to the lungs, where blood picks up a new blood supply. Then returns the oxygen-rich blood to the left atrium. **
