  In our body, the Mucous Membranes (Mucosae) are the epithelial membranes that consist of epithelial tissue that is attached to an underlying loose connective tissue and form the lining of many different body cavities.
  In our body, the Mucous Membranes line the body cavities that open to the outside. The entire digestive tract is lined with mucous membranes, other examples include the respiratory, excretory, and reproductive tracts.
  Examples of mucous membranes (mucosae) include:

• Esophageal Mucosa
• gastric glands (gastric mucosa)
• Hymen
• Intestinal Mucosa
• oral mucosa (mouth mucosa)
• respiratory mucosa

“Gastric Mucosa”  

  In our body's stomach, the Gastric Mucosa, the mucous membrane stomach lining, consisting of an inner epithelium, a middle mucous membrane lamina propria, and an outer muscularis mucosae, which contains the glands (cardiac, gastric pyloric glands) and the gastric pits, where surface cells produce mucus (mucous fluid) protecting the stomach from digestive acids and enzymes.
  In our body's stomach, when the epithelium invaginates into the middle lamina propria at various region of the stomach (cardia, gastric fundus, and pylorus), different types of tubular gastric glands are formed consisting of enterochromaffin cells, gastric chief cells, gastric parietal cells (oxyntic cells), and gastrin-secreting cells, that secrete mucus, enzymes, hydrochloric acid, or hormones (like the somatostatin-secreting cells).
  In our body's stomach, the the Gastric Mucosa of the stomach wall is lined with millions of gastric glands, which together secrete 400-800 ml of gastric juice with each meal.
