  Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a 3000 year-old holistic system of traditional medicines combining medicinal herbs, acupuncture, diet, massage, and therapeutic exercise for both treatment and prevention of various diseases, is a system based on the beliefs and practices of the Chinese culture of yin and yang, and of qi energy.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

  Herbal medicines is one form of the main therapies within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the properties of TCM herbs are described in terms of their taste, and qualities, such as cooling (yin) or stimulating (yang). TCM herbs are used to treat or balance patients who have too much, or too little of these qualities.
  In Chinese herbal medicine, form one of the main therapies within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). preparations usually contain only one herb and are rarely used often, a patient receives a prescription for an herbal formula containing many different herbs.

A TCM practitioner determines which formula to prescribe according to diagnostic ideas and methods used in TCM. The formula is selected and customized to suit the patient's traits and symptoms - not according to what ailment or disease they have. The same formula would not always be given to treat a particular condition. **
