Lanosterol

  In our body's cells, Lanosterol, formula C30H50O, is a triterpene compound that derives from the chair-boat-chair-boat folding of 2,3-oxidosqualene, metabolized to cholesterol and cucurbitacins, and the compound from which all steroids get derived.
  In organic chemistry,Lanosterol is a tetracyclic triterpenoid and the first sterol intermediate formed by the condensation of the 30 carbon isoprenoid squalene.
  Examples of lanosterol related compounds include:

  • 14-demethyllanosterol
